Fun Brief History

Story Time! Here’s me at 10 years old, selling jewelry with my dad at the Grand Canyon! My family and I have been making and selling jewelry since the beginning of time lol! And a lot of us sold at the Grand Canyon. My Great Uncle Juan Yellowhorse (Cheif Yellowhorse) had two stands there that

were run by his son Scott (Uncle Scott), and my Grandpa Shush Yellowhorse (who was my moms dad) sold down the ways too. He is pictured in the third photo with his sisters Jane (Patrick’s mom) and Mary Ann Yellowhorse (who is Robert’s mom). They all have been in the business. The Yellowhorse sisters are legendary! They made Native jewelry fashionable in the 70s! And they were some of the most gorgeous women! I hear stories to this day from people how they loved them, envied them or wanted to grow up to be them!

My dad was Leonard Bill and him and his brothers were silversmiths and they were taught by my uncle Emerson’s wife’s family Nora Tahe how to silversmith. Great works of Kenneth and Mary Bill, Darin Bill, Emerson Bill and of course my dad Leonard Bill were made! Some of you may own. Now the Tahes are super famous for their astonishing stampwork!

And now my husband Tomas and I have the honor of carrying on the tradition. More stories to come!!!!
